In Hyderabad, amidst concerns of adulteration surrounding the Tirupati laddu, artisans near Tirumala are preparing to seek a geographical indication tag for their intricate Madhavamala wood carvings. These skilled craftsmen have been crafting lifelike idols of deities and various wooden items for generations. Represented by the Sri Balaji Wood Carvings Mutually Aided Cooperative Society Limited, the artisans plan to submit their application with support from NABARD. If successful, the Madhavamala wood carvings will be the 20th geographical indication from Andhra Pradesh.
